Hot Shots program- The Hot shots program is for kids looking to start tennis, each lesson uses modified equipment with softer tennis balls and smaller rackets making it easier for kids to play the sport. The starting age is 4 years of age and the class size is a maximum of 6 students per class, class time is 45- minutes and a free racket is included for kids who participate in the full 8- week term, an ANZ Hot Shots t-shirt is also included. Rackets can be provided for all other ages, anyone joining mid or late term will only pay for the classes remaining.
The 3 stages of Hot Shots are red ball (Explore) 4-7 years, orange ball (Develop 8-10 years) and green ball (Encourage) 9+ years.
Junior group classes- Junior group lessons are grouped to a similar age and playing level, lessons involve point play, drills and instruction. Class size is a maximum of 6 students per class. rackets can be provided at no cost and the class time is 45 minutes. Anyone joining mid or late term will only pay for the classes remaining.
Advanced junior squads- Advanced squads are 75 or 60 minutes duration depending on the number of students per class, advanced squad classes are primarily designed for competition and tournament players, drills and activities are a higher intensity and more emphasis is placed on fitness.
Cardio Tennis- Cardio tennis classes are a fun way to stay fit and play tennis at the same time, cardio classes are for all ages and levels and take place on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6.30 pm. Tennis activities are continuous and designed to burn calories and keep players moving, the cost is $17 per session and a racket can be provided. Semi-private and private lessons- Private classes are a great way to work on a particular part of your game or to fine tune your overall playing skills, class times can vary from 30 minutes up-to 45 minutes, if you would prefer to share a class with a friend or family member a semi-private class is another option.
The aim of the program is to provide a match play experience for those kids who are not yet ready to play inter club competition, all matches will be played at the Chelsea Heights tennis club. Match play is also a great opportunity for kids to learn how to score and practice court positioning, unlike inter club competition parents are allowed to assist kids with scoring duties and encouragement from inside the playing area.
Orange ball level- For kids aged 5-8 years playing on a 3/4 court size using 50% compression tennis balls, 2 bounces are permitted there will be 2 games both 30 minutes duration.
Green ball level- For kids aged 7-12 years playing on a full court size using 75% compression tennis balls, Standard competition rules apply. There will be 2 matches each 30 minutes duration.
The next match-play will take place on TBA the cost is $5 for non members and free for members. Payment can be made by cash or EFTPOS on the day or transferred to BSB 193 879 Account 4461 60771, Bank of Melbourne.
